You're looking at a dood who got 36+ centimeters (14¼+ inches) of snow when it was all said and done.
It got as cold as a polar bear's scrotum outside (-22 C / -7½ F, obliterating the original record low for the day (0 F, 1971)).
And in the midst of all this madness, he can think of nothing better to do than work on whatever garbage is in front of him.

Maybe this is part of a grand plan...
Or maybe he's lost the plot.
I doubt he knows that answer, himself.
Regardless, sometimes it doesn't matter if you have a plan or not.

---

Well, February started, and this winter storm brought numbers that hadn't been seen in a good long while for the region. This was the first major snowstorm in the region since 2018, and the first with such high numbers since at least 2012 (and even that is to my recent memory, as I don't think that event crossed the 1-foot mark). The official -7 F recording was also quite rare.
Fahrenheit negatives are fairly rare to begin with, here. Last year recorded a -3 in the midst of a major cold snap where the high point was single digits, but those were the first instances since, again, 2018. For it to drop that far is very unusual (it's not the monthly extreme record, however).
It felt awesome, though.

......

So anyway, February is set to be a busy month. The first Short was released to...I guess an okay response? It got past 100 views, but for Shorts, that doesn't seem great at all. Maybe it'll get better with the next couple? I don't know.
I'm just hoping this series doesn't become as big a dumpster fire as [COMMENT REDACTED].

The next Short is set to be on the 6th. I'm also planning on a third and fourth Short, to be set on the 14th and 20th, respectively.

Super Mario Bros Video
I fixed my lines and finished the video, so that it was out of my hair and done for. I didn't have to change too much in the greater scope. It helped that the lines that needed changing were not already stitched to music, so I just needed to swap places with the new ones and fix it from there.
After that, all that was left was literally making the ending monologue, converting to 4K, making the thumbnail, and that was a wrap.
Even though I said it would be delayed for a month, I'm sticking to my guns and keeping it there, despite the quick fixes.

The video is set to go public on 7 March.

Replacement Video (for the above's intended window)
I still needed to record some more lines for this thing, and I knew it when work on it halted. I recorded some more, but currently, the video's only running a projected time of just 8 minutes. That seems way too short, so I'll look at things some more and see where it goes from there.
Roughly 3 minutes is connected to at least base video footage. Once the dialogue is all put together, it should be relatively smooth sailing.

I'm trying to reach for a window of the 10-12th, this way there's enough distance between my second and third Shorts.
It is top priority until it's done.

Video #3
This one has had a little more progress made in terms of recording material. Lines for one section are done.
Overall, maybe 15% complete, now. This one is hard set for the 21st.
But wait, don't I have a Short planned for the 20th? Well, the two are tied together in a specific way. In fact, some of the recorded lines will be in both the Short and the main video. Saves me much of the trouble when I get to that point.
I can't screw around for too long, though.

The two current video projects are gonna take some time, and the Shorts will also be of concern, so for the time being, I'll be stopping my progress on Ancient Roman and Blue Breaker. There are also some other ideas for games to play, and I'll discuss them, too.

Ancient Roman

The last recording was on 29 January. So far, it's been...an experience. I kinda don't wanna say too much about how I feel about the game, since I plan on making a video for it, and I know good and well it's gonna be shitposting galore.
It's definitely one of the games I've ever played, though. That's a fact.

Blue Breaker
1770171631784.png

The last recording was on 2 February. Hoo boy, it has its moments...
I did manage to get all the main playable characters, and am currently in the midst of the main events. There's a lot of footage recorded, to the point that the folder reached over 6 GB. Not only is this game getting put on hold because of the video work I need to do, but to also get some of that folder's size down. I could probably trim a boatload of footage, and some might get nuked outright, depending on if anything major happened.
I'm not even at the halfway point of the game. Woof.

Other Games of Concern
I'll cover a couple games that I'm thinking of playing (whether for video material or not) over the next month or two, outside the above.
They're sorted from oldest to newest.

Valkyrie no Bōken (Famicom)
1770175935340.png

This is not the same thing as the Arcade/PC Engine Valkyrie game. This was the first one, and has a different story.
This was a game that caught my interest when I was taking a peek at some early Famicom games (spurred from a video done in October).
Namco had quite a few good early Famicom titles, starting with Galaxian. Can't go wrong with the early arcade ports!
That's what the Famicom was first built to do, after all.

The Wing of Madoola (Famicom)
1770174042210.png

One of Sunsoft's early titles, it's notorious for its high difficulty.
As if that's really gonna be a problem for me, since I've conquered my fair share of tough NES games (without cheating).
If I can beat the first two Ninja Gaidens (III was attempted, but TL;DR repro controllers are garbage and my copy looked like ass. It got sacrificed for a different game, and I'll get it back before long), I can tackle this one.

Xak (MSX2)
1770183582921.png

Lately, I've had an itch for the MSX. This won't be my first game on the platform (the actual first is one of my wild card projects), but it should be a fascinating trip regardless. If this game interests you, only the MSX2 version has an English translation.
If you're feeling bold, on the other hand...it's on the Super Famicom and PC-Engine CD (as Xak I & II) as well, so you don't have to deal with bullshit.

Keio Flying Squadron (SCD)
1770172814643.png

This one's bound to happen at some point soon, because I already had a video folder set up as well as intro lines recorded back in October.
However, when shit hit the fan in the middle of November, it's just been hanging there and I've yet to make an attempt at the game.
I've known about it for a very long time, but I never gave the game a serious chance. Within a month or two, that will change.

The Adventure of Little Ralph (PS)
1770187657566.png

I've had this one in my line of fire for a while, especially since it got its translation. However, I've only bothered to go through the first couple stages on Discord streams and that's about it. Those streams are typically short runs of random games, anyway.
I'm on the fence about doing something with this one. Time will tell, especially since other projects have priority.

Golden Sun (GBA)
1770185848363.png

I remember playing a little of Lost Age...ages ago. Yet it took a real long time for me to get the first game.
Bunch of reasons why, but I eventually got it. Now I can start the duo from where I should have.
Been a long time coming, but I'll see how it goes, eventually.

Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier (DS)
1770180890446.png

This was a game I had wanted to play for the longest time, since first recognizing it via Project X Zone on the 3DS.
Couple months ago, I got my chance, but has been on hold since then.
Priorities are priorities, after all. This is one I'll probably do on my own terms.

---

Aaaaand that's really about it. Games will be held up for the time being, until I get my next two big videos squared away. After that, I can move on and do more stuff. Obviously, I'm not gonna start everything that was mentioned above, but they're considerable between late February to March.
I'll probably pick one of the RPGs off once Blue Breaker gets completed. A couple others need finishing, but I'll handle them when I do.
For now, it's two big videos and at least two Shorts that need made. Clock's ticking, so I better get a move on!

End blog post. Next Update: Likely 14 February
