Journey Into the Garden of Madness

Well, it's been over three weeks since I started doing stuff. The Neo Geo CD video had some inconsistencies in performance, but ultimately managed to record over 1500 views at the time of typing this. At this point, when it comes to niche stuff like the platform I talked about in that video, if I can get to four figures (1000+), I could call it a minor success, and 2000+ as an actual success.
It'll pick up more views over time, as I continue to work on my next ideas. It reached what I expected over the past week, and I'm content.
More importantly, however...

The goal I hoped to reach as far back as October was finally achieved.
So far, my only acknowledgement of it is updating my Bio to record the milestone.
Funny story, right around midnight the next day, I suddenly noticed it dropped by 3 to put it to 2998. That got me worried about what happened, as it doesn't just drop that fast. Turns out it wasn't individual unsubs happening, but YouTube taking 3 off my entire analytics.
It didn't matter in the long run anyway, as I hit 3000 again about 16 hours later (YT has since restored it, meaning I only recorded a +3 for the 21st).

I know Subscriber Specials are a thing for some people, but to me, I never really think about them. Post a video noting the mark, and move on with what I was doing. Technically, a Subscriber Special is already set up: that special is the start of my YT Shorts run.
That stuff is getting its points set up. All I really need to do is record the lines (and some footage, but that'll come when I get the chance), figure out how to make the 9:16 format work with said footage, and go from there.
All I can do is hope it pans out, because I noticed the push for it. I just didn't know how to approach them, until now.
Of course, there's only one correct way to start it.

I got a fairly sizable library that had evolved over time. Originally, I considered showing the entire thing in a single video, but I didn't have the space or time to pull that off. But then I got to thinking: why not just do what I originally did, only do one individual game in Short form?
If anything, it would help get some games out of the way that may end up taking a while to complete a full video of (assuming I even wanted to consider it in the first place). It also gives me a chance to upload something at least once a week.
I think I know how to approach the entire thing. I just have to see it through.

On the subject of Super Mario Bros, you may recall my hint to an upcoming video I was making on the last blog post. Currently, it sits around 75% done. As of typing this, all I have left to do is get the base video done for the ending section, do detail work, add the music tracks, and it's done.
It'll get finished by Monday, and will be uploaded at a later date. You'll know when it's scheduled.

My third scheduled video currently has just raw lines recorded and that's about it.
I'd say 10% done on it. I'm not even done with said lines. I'll get on it once this current video is completely finished.
My wild card projects also had some stuff done to them. Little amounts, but any progress is one step closer to potential release.

And now for the important stuff. Yesterday marked the start of...that game.

I had been wanting to tackle this game since last September, and now I finally got my chance. I recorded one video on it so far, but that's it.
I just wanted to make sure I got things in order before continuing. I certainly don't need dumpster fire footage to go with a dumpster fire game.
I'm gonna try to get a session on it done every once in a while. Maybe not every day, for the time being, but I do want to make some progress.
I say all that because Ancient Roman is about Priority #5 right now. #1 is obviously the upcoming video, #2 will be the Shorts, and #3 is the next main video. As for #4? Well, it's got priority over Ancient Roman for good reason.

Ancient Roman should be pretty straightforward. Blue Breaker is not.
Language barrier aside (which is mostly a non-issue for me), most people don't know what the hell you have to do to get any progress going.
Even when you do know, it's still a total pain in the ass to get things to trigger in your favor.
I finally was able to get something going in the right direction...after 12 recordings, 4½ hours of playtime, and three days of playing it.

Yeah. When even the native Japanese players say this is a tough game, it's gonna be a rough time no matter what you do. However, I'll persevere and make it through, one way or another. If I want to talk about this game properly, I have to be able to conquer it myself.
I just hope it doesn't take so long, it becomes yet another wild card project. Such is why I'll be trying to make this priority in terms of games played.

For now, those are the four things currently in progress. Obviously, I got a lot on my plate, but I'm hoping that the month of February will be a prosperous one. There is much to do, even more I want to talk about...but I know that I'll eventually prevail in the end.

I do appreciate everyone that is sharing my work to other places. I can only do so much as one person running the entire show.
Don't forget about the Hype system, either! The more hypes I get over the first week of my work going public, the better my chances of it spreading like wildfire. With any luck, I'll break out harder than I did completely embarrassing myself with Hoshi wo Miru Hito.

That's about it for this blog post. Next update? Whenever.

Eclipse broski, im curious what do you use when playing these games? Do you just collect them? Do you use a CRT or a CRT Monitor and if so which one? Do you use a OSSC or a Retrotink?
This can be answered in two different ways.

The physical games I have, I do have original hardware (except for my two PC-FX games, and that's because the system has yet to be seen) and play on this small Admiral CRT I've had for fuck-knows how long. By CRT standards, I think it's a recent one (Manufactured Date sticker says July 2000), and not once has it ever let me down. It still gets used to this day, although it's been sporadic. And yes, I do play the games I collect. Isn't that kinda the point of them, in the first place?

Unfortunately, I don't have any capture tools to record the games on said hardware (although I'd certainly love to). So in the case of recordings, I run them through RetroArch and tweak everything from there. It helps that my laptop is a specially designed one, so any faults found are few and far between.

EDIT: The CRT in question.
