New Year, New Stuff To Do

Wait, I made a blog post? In this economy?!

Yes. Yes, I did.

I thought about making one of these for a while, but the month of December was typically that of rest and wrapping up whatever was still being handled. It is no longer December, which means it's back to high gear and get some stuff I'm interested in talking about done.
Immediately, I started recording footage for a video I'm hoping to post in February. As for this month, I already have something scheduled for the 14th. All I really need to do there is some tweaks and recording the ending monologue. Easy enough.

...What, you want a hint as to what it'll be? Considering the localized nature of this site, and the other one has been difficult getting profile posts any time for attention, I suppose I could do so.

It's Neo Geo time. Starting off with a simple compilation video and will serve as a platform for some other stuff about it.
As for February...

Hold up. Isn't this game one of the most well-known and well-documented ever? Sure. But this isn't quite the same as the most famous incarnation.
I already covered the trainwreck that is Special (which I still find hilarious), but this particular one is also interesting to me.
You'll understand why once the video is fully done. I already recorded my lines leading up to playing the game, so now I just need to get through it and cover what I found. I'm also playing the NES version in tandem for two reasons.
The first is obviously reference material. The second is that it'll be the basis for my first YouTube Short.

The question about Shorts came up to me every once in a while, and although I had interest in doing them (especially since my viewer base equally watches Shorts), I didn't really know how to approach them. Just a minute maximum seemed tough. With the limit increased to three minutes, it gives me more leeway on the games I could talk about for longer than merely 60 seconds.
With a sizable physical library, I could highlight one game per Short, and it could keep the systems occupied if I can get them done weekly.
I'll need to figure out how to edit Shorts, though. The format's 9:16, which I'm not used to.
It'll be the first of February before I upload my first Short, at best.

There's also two videos in the background that have an incredible amount of material made, but have stalled out due to issues I had starting from my slump in the middle of November. I'll get to work on them whenever I'm able to. It's part of why I'd like to get a semblance of being ahead of schedule. The combined raw material is currently over 8 GB, and that's with a good chunk of game footage being trimmed.

As for games to play for later material, there's at least two games I'd like to try to take down. I mentioned the first one before.

I mentioned wanting to play this absolute dumpster fire back in September. Unfortunately, I never got around to it as I overloaded on what I was doing. It's already marked to play, so I'm hoping to get started on it as soon as I complete my February videos. I did give it a taste months ago, so I already have an idea of what I'm getting into. I expect what I make out of it to be a hilarious shitpost.

This other one? Not so much.

I've tried maybe three or four times to get through this one. It hasn't worked out. Why?
System mechanics make this game very obtuse in how it works. Even an acquaintance I know, a specialist in the PC-FX, has a hard time talking about it. My best chance to get through might literally be just hunting down a physical strategy guide. Yes, they do exist for this game (albeit the Saturn and PS versions, but that's mostly inconsequential), but as far as I know there's no scans of the guides anywhere. Not even Internet Archive.
This is gonna be a really tough one, no matter how I slice it.

Of course, there are others, but that's for later to decide on whether I make a go at them or not.

That's pretty much my thoughts at the start of this year. I'll update this blog whenever. For now, I just have to focus on the two current projects.

There is much to do. Hopefully you'll like what I have to share!
