Practicing my writing muscles

Struggling to find the motivation to write kinda sucks. Every now and then I’m gonna attempt to get something out just to stretch the brain muscles and not risk them getting dulled.

I binged Parasyte last year as an active attempt to seek out every single anime adaptation ever made that covers the entirety of its manga.

You’d be shocked to here there’s only a handful.

I’ll binge FMA eventually because the elric family is very hot. I liked FMA 2003 a lot and it’s so far one of my favorite shows of all time.

Attack on titan season 4 is on my watchlist too although mainly for the memes.

How I feel and look binging the most sophisticated animes for the most shallow reasons possible.

There’s one that always bothered me though …. The JJK MC is so lame cuz the side characters always do way cooler shit

I binged it last ramadan but paid so little attention cuz the mc just sucked ass
Mahito and Aoi Todo were way cooler.

Resuming the discussion about Parasyte now that I’m done begging for there to be more animes that adapt the whole manga, I’ll talk about what this show means to me

Parasyte the Maxim is an incredibly important story about isolation. In fact, I’d argue it’s one of the rare good anime stories that tackle isolation in a mature, realistic and non edgelordy way. Many animes fell into cliches and tropes and assume social isolation means it should be a hikkimori story which I don’t find relatable cuz Im constantly outside of my room and try talking to others yet life can still feel like you’re walking it alone.

Furthermore, it’s worth pointing out that I’m really abrasive towards body horror. Mouthwashing and Lisa both traumatized me and gave me zero feelings of fulfillment and made me feel like they harmed me mentally more than than anything. Mortal Kombat in its modern form is virtually unplayable to me and the meme “Momo girl” still frightens me even today cuz I simply don’t like any semblance of body horror. Normally I wish this was an exaggeration but I have to actively ask my friends not to send me that stuff (even if tagged)

Yet despite all that, PtM deeply resonates with me.

I think there’s something that’s rather fascinating about Japan being in touch with the oldest fear of men, the fear of violence. Societies at their core evolved to combat and prevent violence and societies that are completely peaceful don’t evolve past the Stone Age due to there being no need, like the very reason cities are formed is for humans to collectively band together and protect themselves.

There’s an ongoing debate which one is more “mature”, violence or nudity, I personally think it depends on context but 9 times out of 10, I’d prefer something being “less violent” instead of “less sexual”. Of course, that would depend on how it’s handled. For example, sex in the Witcher is cool, sex in gay or trans stories usually actually only depends if I like the character (abbie from TLOU2 is cool, but Chloe from LiS needs to be put in a meat grinder), I think blood is cool, limps being removed… really depends on context and so on. It’s really not a binary debate at all so there’s too many factors involved.

What clicked for me in PtM as well is that it’s a story about survival above all else… and it’s very wholesome as well. It’s a lot more “depressing” than “scary”, it’s about deeper bonds and not strictly for shock value and I can safely recommend it to those seeking something not within their comfort zone but would hit the spot either way. Its gore and violence are really nothing to write home about and I’m pretty proud to not have been filtered by it. I might read the manga too.

I’d love to know if there’s more anime adaptations that adapt its whole manga :0, preferably with minimum filler. Length doesn’t bother me. I can watch a 200 episode anime like it’s nothing so don’t worry and recommend me anything. :)
