What’s your Mount Rushmore?

This is by far the worst edit I’ve ever done on this site. As a LeFunny memer I oughta be ashamed, however because it’d be funnier to blame whoever scalped this silly thing whichever 100 something years ago, I’ll do that instead.

I’ll confess that the chosen undead is the odd one out here, as he represents my love for a single game, and not an entire franchise. For Dragon Quest, GTA and Yakuza though i feel the avatars I’ve picked are good enough. They are (from left to right) the female hero of DQ3, Niko Bellic and Ichiban Kasuga respectively.

I was contemplating putting Chuck Greene, but I felt Dark Souls 1 on its own spoke to me much more deeply than dead rising did in its entirety (plus if you wannabe technical, the ratio of good DR games is actually lower, so there’s that too).

The question about including Dynasty Warriors was a tough one to answer. See, I’ve recently realized me (and many others) may have went *a bit* too far in romanticizing our nostalgia for the PS2.

Don’t worry, I won’t pull the rug under you and be like “YOU WERE WRONG ABOUT THE PS2, HARDY DARDY DURR, SWALLOW MY INTERNET BAIT PLA”, but rather I realized that it’s quite easy to get overzealous about a game being “niche” or “underrated”

Believe you me when I say I’m only calling myself out, because I wish nothing but more power to anyone who uncover cool hidden gems, but in my case I try not to count my eggs before the hatch.

What the fuck is with all these metaphors and idioms? What I’m trying to say that my enthusiasm for the ps2 have significantly calmed down over the past couple yea, when I revisit a game (or play it for the first time) and think to myself that while it’s still great, I wind up leaving the game feeling…. Underwhelmed in a way that I’m currently genuinely struggling to articulate.

You can make me enjoy a ps2 game right here right now and I might still leave thinking to myself there’s a spark missing.

Yeah, I’m really not sure where any of this is coming from.

You see, the ps2 was special. Like really, really special. Full of whimsy, raw creativity, ambience and a lot more.

I’m starting to think… maybe that’s finally beginning to wear off? When the curtain is lifted and you start seeing through the cracks, what’s there left to give you?

That’s not me being a philosophy junkie, I’m actually genuinely interested to hear how others contemplate or handle this particular emotion of a Titan feeling like it’s losing its sense of glory.

Lastly, I’m gonna ask that you don’t take this away as some sort of weird bizarre revionist critique, in fact if you were hoping I’d go harder on my ps2 critiques then I’m gonna stop you right here to say that it’s still my 2nd favorite console of all time 😛

I just think some healthy bit of critical thinking can be fun! I was raised on British humor so I can be a bit of a dick towards stuff I like! :sailor-embarrassed:

The ps2 is the best selling console of all time so I’m sure it could handle a few pieces of overthinking critiques

Last note about whimsy is that I don’t think it’s fair to claim EVERY piece of media loses its feeling of whimey after a while, as I still feel this about these two games.
