So I've been going on an old classic monster movie spree this past week. I've watched all seven of the Frankenstein movies, from the original 1931 movie and it's sequels (Son of Frankenstein is the best one by the way, fight me) to the not so good 40's monster crossover stuff like House of Frankenstein and particularly House of Dracula; god, that was just awful. Anyway, do you know what the best one I've watched so far was? 1931's Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, goddamn was it exceptional. The Hyde transformation scenes are actually mindblowing considering it was '31, and it was of course pre-MPAA code so they got away with some real scandalous (for 1931) stuff, like the fact that you actually see the faintest hint of cleavage on a female, and it may be the first movie I know of at least to suggest at a sexual assault scene. Hyde's make-up alone is fantastic, it still looks convincing. 10/10, would recommend.
I'm now entirely rebranding myself as an enlightened classic movie reviewer, sorry guys it's all over now.
