☆9: The Monster Hunter Thread

I've been playing a ton of Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate lately thanks to Pretendo servers. Let's discuss one of my favourite game franchises ever, Monster Hunter! Talk about your favourite quests, weapons, armour sets, monsters anything relating to the franchise really. That includes spinoffs as well of course! ANYONE IS WELCOME!
I'll start it off, my favourite weapon is Gunlance and my favourite monster is probably Nargacuga. I grew up with MHFU so it might be slight bias.
I'll also use this thread to post updates on my MH4U playthrough and inevitable other playthroughs of the other games. Probably going to replay Rise after MH4U. Trying to get Gore Gizami set right now!

I'd say the newer games are perfect for beginners! World was really fun and I felt was the most similar to other modern games. Rise would also be enjoyable for a beginner. If you want a taste of "old" MH though, I'd say Generations Ultimate. Its probably my personal favourite out of the titles playable on modern hardware and the amount of content that game has is crazy.
If you're not too worried about older titles though, then 4 Ultimate on the 3DS would be my suggestion, anything before the 3DS is full of jank hitboxes and near unbearable grinding.
My word to new players is if you like Dark Souls you'll probably like Monster Hunter since its gameplay is similar in that you fight big bosses and get better and better gear while also having a very intricate and deep gameplay system. But that's about where the similarities end. Try it when you can and let me know!
 
literally just searched for super sized dung on MH3U. Sadly not pretendo servers for the wii u version yet soo playing on azahar it is :3

My favorite weapon is switch axe, but i also love the sword and shield, the hammer and the bow. My favorite game is MHGU :3 and my favorite monster is also Nargacuga, closely followed by Mizutsune and Astalos :3

Nargacuga supremacy... I like Mizutsune and Astalos especially the Astalos armour set. Honestly I'd say my second favourite might be Zinogre despite how generic that opinion may be.
You play MH4U tho? Maybe we can do some hunts :pear:

yeah i have it on my 3ds, but i think i am in low rank in the online lobbies uwu
