Essentially what it says on the tin. I’ve been a ps4 and Xbox gamer mostly for the past ten years but this year I’ve fully migrated to steam and wanna finish stuff.

I’ll post pretty irregularly. There won’t be any kind of order or rythm to my reviews, just random thoughts, hopefully to practice writing more. Every single game I finish will be reviewed, without exceptions.

I’ll consider a game finished I reach credits, get all achievements or completely give up on it (very rare).

The number you’ll see next to a game is not number of completion order, but the number of review itself. If you see “number 1: dishonored”, it means the first review here is for dishonored, and does not mean it’s my first finished steam game (which I frankly cannot remember as that was years ago before I gave steam a proper chance).

I also pirate a lot of games however if I happen to own a steam copy of it I might review it anyways, although ideally I’d like to sink at least one playthrough on the platform.

That’s all. I hope anyone reading this is having a good day. If you are, then I’m happy for you. If you’re not, then I’m sorry to hear and hope your day gets better. I’ll hopefully have December off. There’s no Christmas in Kuwait so December is a work month for us.

I hope you enjoy my writing. This is all for personal practice and self-documentation (aka to help better organize and keep better keep track of myself and my progress as I’m a rather messy individual at times) but you shouldn’t feel shy about commenting or asking questions here.

I think that’s all I have to say. You may feel free to befriend me on discord or Steam if you want.

Completing my entire Steam collection - Game # 1/178 - Dishonored

A very excellent game. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in gems they missed from the 7th gen era, which is my all time favorite era. I completed it recently on High Chaos run and the kills and routes were very interesting indeed. I tried to do as much as stuff as I could. I beat this game in one session. The ending was incredibly brutal, I didn’t expect the finale to be so intense so brace yourself for some crazy twists and tough challenges with very clever solutions. I’m excited for the other dishonored games.

Completing my entire Steam collection - Game #2/178 - Detective Grimoire

Another excellent detective game that I highly recommend. I played this more than ten years ago when it was an iOS release. So the touch control layout still carries over and it looks great. This has a unique puzzle element where you have to match different dialogue together to form a coherent conclusion. It’s got a short run time, around a few hours, and an excellent sequel called Tangle Tower that I will review here. You should check this out if you love detective puzzle games like ace attorney or professor Layton. I have so much nostalgia for this game.

Completing my entire Steam collection - Game #3/178 - Marvel’s Miles Morales Spider-Man

To be honest this game is just kinda… underwhelming. I don’t think it left me with a lot of positive impressions. I don’t mind some of the collectibles as that’s just something I’m kinda used to in open world games and the combat is really fun, but it really feels like they gave my boy miles a B-grade narrative, like they gave him the worst possible story campaigns they could to a Spider-Man protagonist and it’s such a shame cuz Peter has less interesting powers for gameplay. Electricity and invisibility are far more interesting than Peter’s vanilla powers in combat. Miles is very similar to Cole Macgrath so I was excited to play this for that, so it’s such a shame that a great character is wasted on such a lousy campaign.

Completing my entire Steam collection - Game #4/178 - Judgment

You must know that this game is not really what it seems. See, this is actually JUDGMENT: Remastered on the ps5, but the name “remaster” is left out, for whatever reason. So you’re not getting the original ps4 version with the correct lighting, instead you are getting a remaster done on an updated version of Dragone Engine which not only clashes with this older game, but it uses the sequel, Lost Judgment’s lighting, so Yagami looks a lot shinier and a lot… blue-er.

The upside however is that this means you also get all the DLC for free as that’s tradition with rgg remasters. Lost Judgment on steam will also give the ps4 dlc for free, but more on that once I review lost judgment.

Onto Judgment itself, aka Judge Eyes, it’s yet another excellent detective game, albeit with some jank it’s still a mid-gen ps4 title at its core, so it’s rather outdated in a few areas, but they don’t matter in the grand scheme of things as this is still an excellent brawler. If you must, I’d strongly urge you to play this with the “Detective Essentials” mod by renowned modder Skirish. Here is a guide on how to get Yakuza mods running on windows, and a guide for Linux/steam deck.

In Linux you will need wineprefix to add dinput8 and winmm to your libraries. The mod backports many features from Lost Judgment and gives you true instantaneous style switching. It will help you better appreciate the truly excellent combat and excellent story of Judgment, which in my opinion has one of the greatest stories told in gaming. You really ought to play it, it helps the game is not taxing on lower end hardware as dragon engine is very optimized and is ported in-house too, so no signs of QLOC’s richid logo ruining everything.

I can't believe you completed so many games so quickly. Can you bring me to whatever time pocket you live in?

i always say when completing games is too beat a game in a set and then jumping right back after beating another game.

Example:
Saints Row -> Freedom Planet -> Saints Row 2 -> Any other game -> Freedom Planet 2

i do this so i dont forget my gripe when jumping back into the series.

I can't believe you completed so many games so quickly. Can you bring me to whatever time pocket you live in?
I get asked this a lot but I’m not really sure how I do it. I just set a time for gaming after work and during weekends. I don’t sacrifice any time either cuz I get full night sleep + cook all my meals + go out to get groceries and errands done.
It might help to know I don’t watch anime or read manga as often as I used to but I try do that too cuz there’s a few mahjong mangas I try finish.
Would you be interested if I recommend you Akagi? It’s a very excellent manga and you don’t know more than basic mahjong knowledge.

Completing my entire Steam collection - Game # 5/178 - In Stars and Time

In Stars and Time is a very good game, but it is also, a vert flawed game, which ultimately left me feeling rather lukewarm on it. I initially went into it thinking it would a decent time travel rpg, and while it did satisfy that itch for a bit, the 20 hours I spent on it were admittedly, pretty underwhelming.

It is an enjoyable game, with decent mechanics, but it becomes rather shallow, rather quickly. I’m personally a big fan of Undertale and Hundred Line Last Defense Academy, so I was quite ecstatic to see this combining the two, so I was somewhat disappointed to see not live up to my expectations either story or gameplay wise. I believe you are better off playing Undertale, Omori, One-shot, Hylix or OFF if you need an indie rpg to scratch your itch.

Completing my entire Steam collection - Game # 6/178 - Yakuza 2 Kiwami

It’s time to talk about a rather peculiar game, Yakuza Kiwami 2, in my eyes, it’s a better remake than Kiwami 1, but only in certain aspects. The combat is unfortunately a lot worse, but with the incredible Legend Remix mod by TripleAAA, this issue is mostly fixed. (But beware this and other moveset mods may not work on the upcoming re-release of Kiwami 2 that comes on December 8th).

Now I’ve played the original Yakuza 2 on ps2 a long while ago, and it’s an objectively superior game to its remake, as even mods could not fully fix many of the old Dragon Engine’s clunky flaws from its outdated version. But with that said, I believe Kiwami 2 is still a very enjoyable game worthy of your time, as it still offers the same excellent story of the original Yakuza 2.

While it is true Kiwami 2 is an outdated clunky game and doesn’t come close to the original ps2 classic, you can still fix many of its faults. There’s an infinite sprinting mod among many other fixes, as well as a mod that simplifies your exp gain. All can be found on nexus easily.

It is worth noting that while Kiwami 2 is flawed in its upgrade system, combat and main campaign, it is an absolute master class in its side content. This game excels in its diverse and rich side content, unlike Kiwami 1. It has better substories, better mini games and a far, far better coliseum. May be even one of the best, as it is heightened by the cameos of many NJPW legends, such as Kojima, Okada, Naito and many more legendary wrestlers. You owe it to yourself to give this game a go, before it’s too late.

Completing my entire Steam collection - Game # 7/178 - Puzzle Agent

This is a very good and excellent game. I highly recommend you give it a go if you want short light-hearted puzzle games from the olden days and golden days of telltale, this game is basically almost a masterpiece with its visuals, runtime and sense of humor as well as unique puzzles and fantastic atmosphere. It’s also made by a funny Canadian cartoonist with emphasis on dry esoteric, abstract humor. He also has a YouTube channel, his name is Grickle.

Completing my entire Steam collection - Game # 8/181 - Guilty Gear 2: Overture

This game is… beyond terrible. I know, I know, the big funny reviewer is gonna bully the small little niche jp game, but believe me, I’m not like that, and this one actually deserves it anyways.

Long story short, a good friend of mine really likes guilty gear, so I felt this would be a good opportunity to bond with him. Thankfully, he and I have a “thing” where we love to relentlessly mock things we like, so he was cool if I didn’t like it. This game felt like it would be a good gateway to the GG franchise, oh how foolish I was.

It seemed right up my alley, I find guilty gear interesting to keep up with, the game has Yuri and Jamison as actors and on top of all that, it’s a musou!

That’s right, a musou! How could I possibly hate it? Except it was sadly pretty terrible. Your dash controls like a car, which was actually common back then (as seen in sonic unleashed) but it’s very clunky here.

I really don’t wanna be too hard on it, because it has a cool story, good missions and a nice soundtrack, but it’s such a slog to get through that in my opinion? It is not worth finishing. If you want the lore, just YouTube it.

Completing my entire Steam collection - Game # 9/181 - Seabed

This game is quite good and wholesome and I recommend it if you want a chill and quiet VN. It is your standard sad melodrama, but it is also quite lighthearted. It is a mystery novel about a widow learning about the past of her lover after her passing.

(Small note: I say “widow”, but she didn’t marry her girlfriend, but I sadly lack an equivalent so bear with me here)

You do get flashbacks of her girlfriend, her work place and and her work mates. This is where you see “the comedy”, but it’s still fairly low-key and humble. So much so, that I was left wondering if it’s gonna have some meme-y moments hidden inside, but no, it is still mellow all the way to the end.

The cast is interesting and the game is rather good. The length will depend on your reading speed, but I do recommend this, as it is rather cozy, and I have some nostalgia for it.
