This was the game i was planning to play since ive beaten Y3 like 2 years ago and never gotten back into the horse
Certainly worth it! A Yakuza game isn’t proper unless it’s got completely bombastic storytelling

Completing my entire Steam collection - Game # 25/180 - Yakuza 5 Remastered

Now usually I’m not really a fan of games that merely recycle things without rhyme or reason, however Yakuza 5 thankfully doesn’t quite fall under this.

It’s got a merely 1:1 similar structure to Yakuza 4, but it uses it to introduce a ton of unique side activities and fleshed out substories with so much depth. It actually does almost feel like RGG crammed in five whole Yakuza games into one and I find that pretty commendable.

That said, I’d be lying I didn’t say I already prefer Yakuza 3 and 4, but I’ve accepted this May come down to emotional preference, as all 3 games typically commit similar pitfalls. Though i do find 5 errors often larger than 3 and 4’s and the positive impact it had on me less strong than 3 and 4 too. In layman terms, the lows are lower than 3-4’s lows, and the highs aren’t as high.

But don’t let that distract you from this being a complete behemoth of a game, and it is indeed attractive for that reason alone. It’s why I come back to 5, there is simply nothing like 5 at all.

I do plan on 100%ing it one day, I’m admittedly somewhat terrified of the grind, but I think I saw my fair share of grindy trophies (I’ve done the true final millennium tower in Yakuza 7 twice by now).

With that said, I feel justified discussing Linux specific issues, like cutscenes loading the wrong audio. You’ll have to use GE-Proton to fix this, some have recommended 9-11.

For mods, I’d advise the no encounters mod.

25 reviews milestone!

25! That’s like, a quarter of a 100!
One thing I’d somewhat regret is not being able to review games from my ps2, psp, NDS ps3, ps4 or Xbox 360, at least not as long as I don’t own them on steam.
I like how quickly this has been going. Each time I expect it to slow down, it doesn’t! Each time I expect it to die, it keeps going! Motivation can be a magical thing sometimes for sure.

Despite how self indulgent this is, I only had pure intentions. Tragically, my brain only functions on tasks and extrinsic value and rewards these days. Intrinsic motivation is the beginning, but being so task oriented means you gotta see shiny pretty numbers go up or you go numb.

This has worked so though. The goal was to play more games and go out of my comfort zone, and this has thus been exactly what happened.

Ideally I would also like to 100% every game I play if I had the time.

Pretty cute game, but given how short it is, I’d feel really bad spoiling literally anything about it so go read it. It’s a lighthearted yuri VN, totally worth the time.

Good game, I think I will like it. I think it’s pretty good, I think I might enjoy it, I think I’m going to love it.

But I don’t know for sure because none of my controllers seem to work on it. Gonna have to wait till I play this on my laptop, sorry.

That pic is pretty hot
The whole game is great.
You have 3 chars, Time, Space and Nil, you date space, which makes nil jelly, then you kiss nil which makes her happy but you miss space, so you start two-timing (get it?) then the game ends with all three of you living happily ever after with you dating nil and cucking space. It’s incredible

I might be cursed, this is the third or fifth game in a row to not detect my controller. I’m not you hung up on it, as I’m not generally a fan of sonic-likes to begin with. It’s a good thing I’m generally hesitant to buy games these days, especially more niche games. It really sucks having to troubleshoot for a game you don’t quite care for. Oh well I’m sure I’ll enjoy this on my switch, moving now.

The big 3-O milestone yipppie 🎉

What can I say that I haven’t already said? I’m once again pretty happy to not only have an excuse to go out of my comfort zone and explore my library instead of letting it sit dormant forever, but I’m also basically revitalizing my gaming experience as well as practice some self restraint with money and game hunting. Also blends some form of accountability.

That said, it is a bit of a shame some games were… not so great. But that’s part of the experience, yea? Wouldn’t it be unrealistic if I enjoyed every game ever? That said, I’m learning a lot about arch Linux as I go long too. Scariest thing I could run into would be games requiring .NET framework and DirectX, as Linux has no equivalent for the former and doesn’t have the best workarounds for the latter. Thankfully you won’t worry too much.

I’ve no articles planned right now. With my holiday starting, i just wish to focus on doing some much needed soul searching and not overthink life too much.
