General forum suggestions/questions

Was not able to find a topic like this, this is probably mainly just my mod instincts kicking in when I’m supposed to relax, but I felt having an all-purpose forum questions and suggestions thread would be really helpful in the future if anyone’s got questions or wants to suggest something.

I’ve been rather curious about forum plug-ins. Are they really all paid? Is it a one-time fee? Where do you usually get them and how are they implemented? Curious… curious…

Xenforo Cloud Starter Plan - $60 every month

Adult Content Filter - bought for $20, renewal every year for $10
Retro - Popito (the colorful theme) - bought for $50, renewal every year for $30
gaming-heaven.net domain - bought for $16.23, renewal every year for $19.15

This makes it a total of $146.23 to get this off the ground. Converted to brazilian dolars it's R$ 801.69.

After that it's $60 a month (R$ 328.94), plus $59.15 every year (R$ 324.28)

So every once in a year, there would be a month that would cost $119.15 (R$ 653.23)

On average, that's $64.91 per month (R$ 355.86)

Here's info on Xenforo Cloud plans. These plans includes hosting from their end as well, as opposed to the self-hosted alternative plan. 1.1 GB has been used so far.

EDIT: Installing the plugins is very simple after you purchase them, it's basically downloading a zip file and uploading them in the add-on area.

Ah right, so my hunch was right. I did suspect as much. At least it’s annual? I’m not sure how expensive this all is considered in BR, but we folks where I live would consider this costing an arm and a leg even if it’s just yearly. You could probably open up a donation box, I’d be willing to help. Or privately.
But generally speaking it really does seem you thought through all of this, that’s rather commendable. I’m very tech illiterate so I find this all really impressive.

Well, minimum wage here is R$ 1.518,00, as a reference. American dollar costs $5.48 here, so everything that has a USD price tag is a little terrifying
