I increased the file upload size a bit, the video should be uploadable now if you wishIt's uh. It's 156MB. That's too big for a gif for most websites. The video is 12 MB.
Still too large, haha. I was gonna break it into smaller parts so that I can post it on Tumblr, anyway. I'll be back.I increased the file upload size a bit, the video should be uploadable now if you wish
Why the FUCK are gifs as a whole so huge?
I see, I see. That makes sense...and is a rare argument for webp not being the worst thing you can imagine. Thank you for the information~ <3Yay, nice gifs!
It was made to deal with limitations from the time (1987) without looking ahead. The compression algorithm is extremely inefficient compared to what we have today, yet they never truly felt out of fashion because it's hard to change specifications after it gets spread.
Although you can't change the way a gif is compressed, there are software that can take advantage of its compression algorithm for maximum efficiency depending of the case.
The reliable alternative for browsers nowadays is either using webp or a video element with the repeat attribute on. The later is what a lot of "gif" websites do.
