Let's talk about Aged to Perfection Vol. 20! @Ruky's favorite movie! They highly recommend this and said they watch it at least 8 times a week. It must be super good! Just look at that production value!

This looks like the type of thing you'd find in a greasy hood gas station with the bulletproof window between you and the cashier.

So I was tricked into watching Joshua and the Promised Land, apparently it's @Ruky's favorite movie? I'd give it 3 "Abducted Children Coerced Into Slaughtering The Enemies of The Chosen People" out of 5.

I feel like I'm being converted into a cult member just by looking at the cover

If 'Jack Hammer' and 'Dick Nasty' aren't their full government names, I don't want to live here anymore.

Watched another of @Ruky's favorites last night, Love on a Leash!

Picture Beauty and the Beast, if Beauty were a traumatized single lady who can't dress for shit, and the Beast were a dog, who hates her. It's like a rom-com, only tragic!

There were some positive reviews though, @Antilocal123 said "I almost finished myself off, but I made the mistake of edging too long, and got too invested in the drama!"

Fuck youuuuuu

Just watched: "Help Wanted: Kids" -- a largely forgotten Disney flick from 1986 starring Hillary Wolf.

The ending was SO rushed, but the rest was gold.

Back with another of @Ruky's favorites, Fungicide (2002)!

Sometimes you watch a movie, and know in your heart that someone was shooting a porno, and then got a little creative with the camera and crew after wiping up the loads. Filmed in a backwoods cabin from the 70's, Fungicide is one of the cheapest films I've ever seen to feature a twenty minute action scene where a walking penis uses the Force to sword-fight a pro wrestler.

A motley crew of idiots all shack up at the world's shittiest bed and breakfast, run by Actual Queen, Jade-Moon. One of the guests is a mad scientist who trips and dumps his new weird formula onto some common mushrooms. After a run-in with a paranoid psychotic with a machete competing in a knock-off of Survivor, people start getting eaten by weird mushrooms. Also one of the fungi drives a car, picks up a prostitute, and murders her like Grand Theft Auto 3. What I'm saying is, the year was 2002.

"AGHHHHHH!!!! AT LEAST THIS IS RUKY'S FAVORITE MOVIEEEEEEE"

Also I saw Happy Gilmore 2 just now.

....eh. It's about as nostalgic as you'd expect, even playing a million clips from the original as flashbacks. You might as well just watch the first one again if you like it.

The last film I watched was Freaker Friday

It was just a bit too shumltzy for me. The actress with the OTT RP British accent was extremely grating to listen to. Jamie Lee Curtis was good in it though.

I finished the Nolan Batman trilogy for the first time a few days ago.

I enjoyed them, although I was somewhat disappointed by their soundtracks, as that was one of my favorite aspects of Batman '89.

I thought Heath Ledger's Joker stole the show in TDK, yet I found Bane in TDKR and Scarecrow in Begins to both feel a bit underwhelming as antagonists.

Spoiler for TDKR:
I don't believe for a second that Bane's plan to bankrupt Bruce using stock trades would seriously work. It felt like there were little moments like this throughout the movie that made everything feel so implausible just to somehow force the plot forward.

Overall, I loved the IMAX scenes in TDK and TDKR, and I definitely liked these films more than Zac Snyder's DC movies. The trilogy also has a distinct identity, which separates itself from the now dime-a-dozen MCU fare.

I don't adore Nolan's movies, but I have great respect for his work as a director, and you can clearly see in his films that he has an obvious love for the medium.

Geharha: The Dark and Long Haired Monster

This movie is fucking awesome and this is probably one of the best Kaiju designs i've ever seen. Everything is so exaggerated and it keeps on this thin ice of being super funny but not really being a comedy movie. It was made by people that really understand the appeal of the nonsense in old Kaiju movies

All that said i was still pretty terrified with the actual horror element of the movie, which is the existence of bald people. Made my bones shiver and my legs tremble

Seems interesting, I gotta watch this one.

A bootleg version of Demon Slayer infinity castle and Naked Gun reboot. I watched them back 2 back. I had a movie binge 😌

So last night I watched It Kills: Camp Blood 7! (No, I don't know what's wrong with me either).

1757253668523.png

Is it related to Stephen King's It? No. Does the killer even look like that on the poster? Not really. Is it good? Ahahahahaha, no.

So this whole series is just a loosely-affiliated set of Friday the 13th knockoffs with effectively zero budget, but somehow they're a *little* charming? There's something to be said for trying to be creative under constraints, and "We aren't spending jackshit" is certainly an obstacle. This was pretty mediocre though; maybe the first one I've seen that wasn't trying to be anything *but* a Camp Blood movie, and it basically meets that goal. It's not that trashy, it's not that outrageous, it's competent enough that there's never any unintentional hilarity....it sets an extremely low bar and barely meets it. Meh.

Just saw it was available and said yeah let's watch it, glad I can do that now that I'm older. It was pretty good, so good the laptop was turned off because fuck being productive and cleaning my disk I want to watch it fully.
