What do you folks think about running a forum event where we gather around to play a game, read a book, watch a movie OR listen to an album made by a queer creator or queer hub? I've been here for a few days, so idk if it would work well considering the average activity in the forums (it could be just my perception, due to holidays and stuff). We could start from February 2026, trying to do it bi-monthly maybe and we could alternate the media in cicles, not to run the risk of neglecting this or that format.

Edit: it would work basically like a book or gameclub, where we chose the media and discuss about it, it won't exactly require doing the stuff together.

Oh, and btw if there's already something like that just point me towards the thread or post lol

Oh ok I’m glad this isn’t about lgbt writers specifically, cuz I love lgbt stories, I love lgbt characters, but I don’t love any of the famous lgbt celebs and artists cuz they all seem self absorbed and stuck up 😅, the best queer ppl are my close friends and ppl in humble small communities like here, I’m totally open to the idea of a club and def interested in hearing ideas about it!! I wanted to write trans fanfics but I can’t find the motivation to write 😅
Maybe an artistic club would be just the thing xDDD
I love hearing fanfic ideas ^^!!

We could even choose the works among the ones our members do (like, I know jiyuu makes music, ciro makes games I guess), I totally get what you say in regards of the celebs lololol
I was thinking more about indie and experimental queer stuff, exactly! :3

But yes I’m open to the idea in general as there’s tons of good(and tons of bad) queer stories that are worth discussing. I think it’s important to discuss both. Good stories show healthy and positive portrayals while bad stories often show how bad the writer is 😅, or how unrelatable the character is
I wish there was better stories that better convey lgbt struggles instead of showing you an ultra-privileged dickhead with victim syndrome 😅, a lot of queer writers seemingly lack real struggles of most lgbt ppl cuz they grew up in leftist neighborhoods which is great for them!!! But not so great for the rest of us who want relatable stories xDD
Plus sometimes stories about discovering that you’re lgbt are more interesting

Too many ppl have this wrong impression that lgbt is like something you figure out from the start which is wrong xDD
many of us take years to figure this stuff out and even then would still be left with uncertainties ^^’

I hate ppl (even lgbt ppl) who act like it’s a binary thing or that it’s so easy to label, i actually hate labels in general I’d rather not be grouped with anyone and just be judged by my own ability xDD

Yes indie works are best
Plus the idea to use members works is great cuz it means I’d torture more ppl with my fanfics lol!!!! 🤣😂

After holidays, I'm gonna start to curate some stuff from itch.io, bandcamp and other waters to post here, so we can discuss what is worth it and what is not. Anyone is invited to do the same, so we can see if the suggestion is appealing!

💯 💯 💯
yes, pls, no bsky/x/ig/tiktok creators covered
Lol!!!! Bsky and x have the worst queer ppl ever!! Lol!!! So stuck up and privileged and obnoxious to talk to!!! They’re like monkeys they have no self awareness 😃🤣

Waohh!! Itchi is a great way to start!! :0!!! That’s where REAL indie comes from, not the so called 10-million dollar budget game that got called indie!! Lol!!! XDDD

Still designing the idea inside my mind, but I guess in regards of games it would be also interesting to seek most for freeware stuff, so we could upload to the resource sections, if interesting and doable ofc (considering that storage costs money)... But like, idk if there's enough of these works telling actual queer-relating experiences, since it would require a certain degree of privilege being able to do the stuff without earning a living from em, although definitely not impossible to find. We'll se what works and what not! I'm excited! xD

Actually is it fine if I make a few negative suggestions? :3

Aka things I think are bad but interesting to discuss for lgbt topics

Basically would be like an inbetween or side game, rather than main game

Do me even, if you want :moxiescream:
LOOOOOOOOL
Do whatever you want :mikublush:
Basically, life is strange pissed me off in so many ways. To a point where it became a parasite in my mind that I wanna infect onto others :]

It’s a popular game, but I only saw it popular with non lgbt ppl, whenever I showed it to my queer conscience friends they were quick to point out how much max claufield is a psychopath :smirk1:

I don’t doubt that it may have had good intentions but it has a slightly toxic portrayal of lgbt

I recently found out some rightist ppl or non lgbt ppl were bi curious but only in HS, but they treated it like a weird phase rather than letting them question their identity cuz they’re too insecure about their sexuality. Now don’t get me wrong, you can be bi curious then decide it’s not for you after trying it, but I hate this devil may care portrayal of queers, that you can’t be lgbt unless you’re already a weirdo or have a messed up life

I’m definitely reading it too deeply into it, but my point is that it’s very clumsily written, the game in 2016 actually scared me off of lgbt ppl and made me think they were crazy so it has real potential for harm.

I’m not trying to damage its reputation, it’s a mainstream game so it will have fans no matter what and I’m just one voice, my real goal is to invite discussions about it :3
Also the two main leads are both dislikable whores and I wish they die in a meat Grindr teehee 🤭 :mikublush:

a lot of this sounds like virtue signaling; where a person puts in on the bare minimum amount of effort to appear to be a good person and support a worthy cause, but will never go any further with it. the best example of that would be all of the woke tv shows, movies and games that have good scores with critics, but sell worse than chum at the chum bucket. [i do want to make it clear, that you aren't the one virtue signaling. those people can't speak and type with logic and thought; and can only regurgitate talking points that they hear from others. they can not, have any meaningful discussion about anything without becoming whiny little babies.]
some stuff does start off with good intentions, but can quickly be highjacked and go off the intended path.
lots of people read too deeply into things. it's my favorite part of reading comments on video essays, seeing what all people can pull out and find in various pieces of media.
you'll need an industrial meat grinder; you want to be through with their deaths.

I completely agree, also cus there are so many weirdos/messed up individuals, either portrayed or real ppl, who definitely do not identify as queers lmao

When I proposed the club, I was also thinking about those creators who are queers but don't necessarily talk about queer subjects (or at least not that explicitly)

Like, for instance, I fucking love everything made by WE and since we already have some suggestions popping up, I also feel like suggesting the following:

I personally know some queer indie devs who have an amazing library on puzzle games already, for instance. Just throwing ideas here!

usually people who have a passion and interest in something don't usually bring the focus onto themselves, they get people to look at what they made and are sharing with the world and others.
they also understand that shoving stuff down people's throats constantly can turn people away from not only their stuff, but from the creator of that stuff as well. people do tend to like subtlety; it makes them feel smart when they pick up on little clues scattered about in the story. garnet being a fusion in steven universe is a good example of this. i didn't notice until the reveal, and then i saw a few clues about it upon rewatching earlier episodes. it made the episode have something extra to it upon the first viewing, and a easter egg upon a second viewing.
