I will start with this classic and probably my favorite fighting game series of all time, Melty Blood

Fun fact: I actually first started playing Melty and only later started playing Tsukihime lmao

It’s hard to tell what falls under this for me, as I’m tragically out of touch with doujin games. The closest would be extremely low budget railgun “shooters” like Gal Gun. Fun game!

Doujin games would be independent small team/single person Japanese indie games usually distributed online or through Doujin circles. Usually they are more "DIY" and focus on featuring specific niche anime stuff and parodies(but not always). It's a fun world to explore
