Finished Games Competition 2026

Oh crap by this point I’m gonna have to keep track of you guys through a spreadsheet xDDD
 
All contestants entered!!! Got massive stressful work this month so I’m praying I don’t miscount. Hopefully we get a tie breaker eventually too xD. The only zero right now is my Kyodai jayo, but I’m sure these numbers will pick up soon cuz the competition is already pretty heated not even a week in 🔥
Edit: took me way too long to find the sort Z-A option 😂

Unfortunate that last year was the one in which I wrapped up a lot of games I was near or at the final boss in. Could've squeezed out some cheap wins. Well, among the ones that I brought to Brazil, anyway.

Oh well. A competition could be fun. Would get me to actually start playing more of them. Goddess knows I suck at it.

Technically I started it last year but only completed it a few days ago. It's not really a long game.
Say what you will, this game is severely overhated for all the dumbest reasons. I feel like this is the last game before Vincent's entire character plummets into the generic nonchalant mysterious anime guy. The game is SUPER easy. I think people mistake that for "tedious", which in my opinion it isn't. There's no grind or anything like that and the stages are relatively alright. I'd say the worst of it is probably the WRO headquarters the second time around. Really felt dumb.
Probably the actual bad part about this game is how abysmal the antagonist is and how God awful and boring the designs are. Every single character that doesn't appear in FF7 and is a brand new original character for this game just has the worst most boring, bland, unmemorable and out of place design ever in this game. The enemy variety also sucks.

But I still think the good outweighs the bad, the gameplay is simple but fun, and the soundtrack is just chefs kiss much like most other games in this franchise. The song that plays in the finale of the game is also great. Too much hate to be honest, it's an alright solid run and gun title. Maybe a comfortable 6/10.

Finished Sonic Adventure 2 (Dreamcast). It was...not as exciting as when I was a kid. Some of this is attributed to Dreamcast jank (there's a controller dead zone bug, plus it just feels worse than 2 Battle's controls), some is that the writing is just serviceable with some good ideas, some is the Treasure Hunter stages, and hot take, I don't like the Chao.

Still, there's some good. The ideas were solid, and Speed and Mech stages were fun. Odds are I'm still going to try to complete it (get all 180 emblems). But I don't hold it as highly as I once did.

It's also light years better than the fucking movie. Bringing Jim Carrey back was genuinely the worst move they could've made, because the guy could not take the script seriously. Even as Gerald sought to destroy the earth, he was making jokes about ComiCon and the failure of Green Lantern. In between serious moments of Shadow coming to terms with the fact that he was wrong to want to follow Gerald's ambitions.

I like the movies quite a bit, but Jim Carrey is a little bit more insufferable every time I watch them. I love the Sonic 3 movie, but they really didn't need the comedy during the climax.
It almost worked because they were setting it up that Gerald was only being wacky and goofy during the movie to trick Ivo into helping him achieve his goal of destroying the world, but then he's wacky and goofy anyway after they do the reveal

Even if he didn't really have...any reason at all for doing it in the game (it was never explained why he did it despite knowing this would happen, and he immediately helped Sonic and co after we, the audience, learned what Ivo already knew would happen happened), I feel like they could've done something that had Ivo actually agree with it. Take advantage of his emotional slump to believe that he's right; the world is against him. As it stands, the change didn't really change much.

That said, I've been of the opinion since I saw it that Carrey shouldn't have been in it at all. Have Ivo's in the story taken over by Stone, and have someone serious play Gerald. After all, Stone was already there, and functionally did nothing beyond playing fourth fiddle, being Ivo's love interest, and being competent in one scene.
