Dragon Quest V for the Super Famicom

Pretty sure DQ III is the oldest game I have a physical copy of now

After waiting for 2-years for an MT-Card to appear on my eBay wish list, one finally appeared since they're super hard to come by. And if you've read my Gateway 3DS blog entry, it's a clone of that flashcart with some unique features-such as a microUSB port for upgrading the FPGA and a button to switch between the games.

I'm gonna need to get a new jewel case cause this one is kinda fucked up lol

Edit: lol jk I just reused the old outer shell from the A7X self tilted that I replaced
I had to replace the jewel case for a PowerPuff Girls soundtrack CD I ordered off of eBay a few years ago. Thankfully, I had no shortage of CDs I didn't care nearly as much about back then and was getting rid of anyway hehe

Here's a video demonstration that I recorded this morning. The "Launcher.dat" file seems to be widely incompatible with my Boot9Strap GW setup, so I had to downgrade my console to firmware 4.4 just to get the flashcart to work.

Do you have to go into the Nintendo DS Profile setting then go MT Card Mode every time you boot it up or is that just a one time thing?
These steps just reek of old homebrew shenanigans & I love it lol.

Every time you exit out of 'MT-Card Mode', you have to enter the 'Nintendo DS Profile' each time you wish to perform the exploit, that also includes powering off the console. The exploit that both MT-Card and Gateway uses, is the "MSET exploit" that was discovered by ichfly; the exploit works by overflowing the stack inside the name and message values to create an entrypoint for executing code in a frozen state. Of course, it wouldn't be long until it was basically patched in system firmware 7.0.0-13, and other methods such as using the 'Internet Browser' to run Gateway was what followed.

The different modes in the MT-Card menu are pretty straight forward: the 'MT-Card Mode' is where you would load your multi-ROMs from the flashcart, and 'Classic Mode' is for playing your retail game cartridges. In order to boot into either one, you must backup your NAND and create an EmuNAND, which uses up 1GB on the SD card.

Ah I see I see. But I think for a flashcart that's what I would prefer anyway, since the 3DS would start from a fresh slate every time you power it on. Not that it would stop your 3DS frombeing bricked with code like you told us but still. Honestly the early years of 3DS basically sound like the current state of the DSi. Like some folk found the exploit & now all your have to do go into the DSi camera to play your games, funny how these stuff work out.

Y'know, owning a physical camera means you're not subjected to your phone all the time. I don't like phones for anything that has functions outside of the basics due to being so inconvenient to use, plus it doesn't feel the same without a pocket camera. For many years, I have used cameras from Fujifilm, Sony, and now Canon of all things—I grew up with a DSLR throughout my teens without a phone to record YouTube videos. So call me a luddite all you want, but I don't want to be subjected to how technology in the current decade has become locked to subscriptions in terms of features, forcing you to pay extra for the product you bought; a lack of innovation; the fueling of AI to compromise a person's privacy; and a lack of ease of use (especially touchscreens which the elderly struggle with).

I would like to present this Canon PowerShot SX220 HS camera from 2011. I'm actually quite liking this since it's the only cheap camera I can find that does 1080p video (as opposed to my F300EXR, which does 640x480 in AVI format), plus it's got a 12.1 megapixel CMOS sensor and better build quality all around where it's not going to get scuffed up—it's a nice pocket camera to have; I wish all of them were still like this. This cost me 100 bucks, compared to listings I've seen on eBay, which go for way higher.

Recent trip. I love these little rocks. Kinda wish they had more fish on them (would've loved one that has a fish that isn't "generic cartoon fish"), but but the SP aquarium was made with mammal lovers in mind (the exclusively polar bear second gift shop is larger than all but the biggest fish tanks) and fish lovers second, so. You might be wondering why there's a gator here if I didn't mention them: so am I.
