Would you say you watch, listen, play, or read familiar things pretty often? Or, do you usually try to find something new to get invested in?

Some years back I felt like I was in a bit of rut re-watching and reading the same stories - simple comforts before and after work to relax - and started looking for something new once a day. How about y'all?

Sometimes my lack of irl socializing hits me ;-;

So I resort to my ultimate comfort food: Visual novels. I love fluffy shit :treataaa:

Sometimes I go on a hunt for new ones, other times I replay favorites of mine: Year of Springs, Tomato Clinic, and of course, Nomnomnami games. I replayed Lonely Wolf Treat and especially Starry Flowers a lot.

I go through phases of it for sure. I've probably rewatched specific MST3K episodes like 50 times over by now, and I mean I'm still listening to Black Sabbath after like 20 years.

I think it's only when I'm deep in comfort and relaxed do I get the urge to try something new, usually on my own. But I do watch youtube videos that are new all the time that I'm not sure were the comfort and novelty beings. If anything my routine back from work is usually the same of videos and watching something long til I pass out anything new is on a day off brought on by nothing other than I've already been brought back to my equilibrium of contentment.

I kinda alternate between seeking new things and engaging with familiar stuff, depending on my mood and energy levels. I've got a handful of action and fighting games I fall back on, like classic Doom, Ninja Gaiden, DMC, classic SF/MK/SNK fighters etc. I also have a 1000+ song playlist (mostly Vocaloid with some other stuff mixed in) I put on when I don't feel like seeking out new music. I guess stuff like classic Simpsons would be my go-to comfort watches.

Bit of both, I gotta say I have a pretty varied interest about everything that I have at least a handful of stuff to get back on, I'm pretty open with trying new things too, so yeah never a dull moment.

I usually fall back on shows or games.

For shows, I'll rewatch Sailor Moon, Slayers, Revolutionary Girl Utena, Seinfeld, Broad City, Bojack Horseman, Regular Show...

For video games, I replay Zelda OOT and Majora's Mask, Star Ocean 3, Castlevania Circle of the Moon, Aria of Sorrow, and Order of Ecclessia.

There's a lot more! But I forget.
